Book Syndicate Private Limited was established on 6th March, 1958 by Late Paresh Chandra Bhowal in association with Late Jyotirmoy Guha as a sister concern of Calcutta Book House, the then premier publisher of text books. The maiden titles of the newly formed company were Padartha Vigyan by Prof. Chittaranjan Dasgupta and Prathamik Rasayan by Prof. Samar Guha for old higher secondary course (IX, X, XI). After the huge success of these publications the company ventured for Balavidya Prabesh (Mechanics) by Prof. Kamini Kumar De for the same course. Later in the second half of Sixties, books like Principles and Practice of Cost Accounting by N.K. Prasad, English language and Literature by An Oxford Graduate, Economics by Prof. Harashankar Bhattacharyya etc.were published.

In 1974 when New Madhyamik course was introduced Mr. Bhowal took over the company wholly and Sri Biplab Bhowal took all the responsibilities to run it smoothly as previous. At present authors like Prof. Jagannath Chakraborty, Prof. Jaydeb Sarkhel, Prof. S.N. Poddar, Prof. Samarendra Bhattacharyya, P. K. De Sarkar, Keshab Chandra Nag, Kiran
Chandra Choudhury, Prof. Nemai Sadhan Bose, Prof. Radha Raman Chakraborty, Prof. D. Banerjea, Novelist Tarashankar Bandopadhyay, Prof. Mrityunjay Bandopadhyay (MIC), Prof. Barin Kumar Basu are among the successful authors. We have published many books on behalf of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. 300+ Titles are in print at present. The organisation has its own printing and binding sections.
